Following the discovery of O Sister (see February 20, 2013 post), a 2004 comic film from Japan was brought to my attention by a reader.  While it was purported to be a documentary … I think not.  Nevertheless, if you appreciate brass bands doing swing, you just might appreciate the music, humor and energy in this thing.  You can see the full-length film below.

Today is the birthday of Ansel Adams. Luckily, I got to know him a bit before his 1984 death, studying with him in the 1970s in Yosemite and working in his darkroom and studio — and learned much of what this HuffPo tribute has to say about him.  Ansel even played the piano for us.

Hard to appreciate the scale here until you hit the Fullscreen button and spot the tiny human figures … and then they do it for us …
