Regarding my video posts on Sunday, my friends at Friends of Ladd Marsh tell me that these are tent caterpillars – the larval form of a moth. And they enclosed the following PDF, attached, for further edification and reading pleasure.
rDay Forty, May The Fourth Be With Us
Tuna steaks in sauvignon blanc, rice, veggies, pastries, more sauvignon blanc …
rDay Thirty-Nine, Nature Observed
We saw these curious sights during our Deal Canyon trek this morning. Not knowing what it was that I was seeing, I am bringing these to the attention of Cathy, an old customer, friend and our local state ODFW (Oregon Dept of Fish & Wildlife) wildlife biologist, to see if she can enlighten me.

rDay Thirty-Nine, Deal Canyon
This morning we made a three-hour hike up the relentlessly uphill Deal Canyon Trail to its end then made our jarring return back down. Even Charlie made for the shade and a reclining position as soon as hit home.
rDay Thirty-Eight, Cars Part II
Includes Jim R and his white 1971 Chevy Stepside pickup which I have been documenting for over a year in its frame up restoration …
Also includes the blue and white 1935 fenderless Chevy pickup owned by the car salesman who rode with me in the Porsche Boxster last weekend.

rDay Thirty-Eight, Car Animals
Stumbled upon a local car show this morning. A few of the sights, including many people I talked with. (Images of the cars themselves will probably hit my car blog; perhaps, here, too.)

And on it goes …
rDay Thirty-Six
Catching Kim in a rare moment when she is not in motion …
Later on, I walk down to my old workplace to do some consulting, where I also see my old colleague and friend, Lucas, a visual artist and film school grad who does wireless installations and troubleshooting as a day job. I also take a look at the company’s latest field vehicle for accessing mountaintop internet wireless towers and installations. Walking back, I take in some of the local residential architecture and meet Kim and Charlie midway for the return home.
