rDay One-Zero-Eight: Dog Stories

Walking to Farmers’ Market, I came upon a cowering dog in the face of verbal abuse from a woman who demanded that it come to her for a leash-up.  Was tempted to say something and even document the fearful dog, but it didn’t happen; just wondered why some people are allowed to have dogs, let alone children …  Later, I saw a young boy treating his dog in a much different way.  Finally, the sad story (so far, apparently) of Grendle.

rDay One-Hundred-Four

Up and out early enough for a walk through balmy (mid 70s – mid 80s) air.  Just a jaunt around the neighborhood.  Saw the latest art piece to mysteriously appear again in a neighbor’s front yard bushes.  After visiting my PO box, I drop by the historic Texaco service station to see the mostly 50s and 60s derelicts and project cars in residence.

Oh, yeah.  There was also the matter of Zola.  Next up.

rDay100

Almost too hot to move (again).  But, recovering from some maladies, self-inflicted and otherwise, it seems time to start walking about again.  Downtown before it reaches too high in the 90s, noticing that animals have the good sense to stay in the shade, encountering an animal in Janet’s front yard about six feet from her front door, watching some tennis with Janet in the cool of her house, then later running errands with Ivi — the highlight being a sighting of a circa 1978 Mercedes-Benz 500SL

rDay Eighty-Eight: Exit 270

Kim and Charlie invited me with them for a morning Father’s Day hike along Ladd Creek Canyon Road (or is it Ladd Canyon Creek Road?), accessible via Exit 270 from I-84.  That road turns out to be the boundary line for a hunting area.  Inside the hunting area, at least for the several hundred feet we walked into some of its trails, the grounds are littered with shotgun shell casings, plastic bits and all manner of trash, with even many trees showing “gunshot wounds”.  On the other side of the road (where the creek flows), it is utterly pristine.  You can guess where we concentrated our activities.
