Ivi’s choice as the most interesting of today’s dismal output is this study of Charlie’s favorite corner of the backyard.

rDay Seventy-Five: Local & Global Warming
Too hot. About 93 as this is written approaching dinnertime. Walked downtown this morning, drinking ice water en route. In the afternoon: Ivi and I remove the sunroof & drop down all windows (AC not quite finished yet) for library and banking errands. Sighted a Corvette cooking in the sun and cat seeking shade.

Houston Report
Friend Herman sends along this photo, taken from a TV news display with his iPhone, as he is currently in his Kansas City home. His daughter & son-in-law & grandkids live in Houston, where Herman also has a house.
Herman goes on to say:
This is a TV shot about a mile away from downtown Houston, taken with my iPhone. That’s Allen Parkway under the water going into down town. Memorial Drive is on the left. Lots of water and only a mile away from the kids, although they are fine. Thank you every one who has asked, kids are fine, and our home in the Heights is OK too.

rDay Sixty-Six
Enduring what turned out to be temps well over 90 degrees F., it was an early morning departure to Walla Walla where the day was spent on vehicle care and feeding — fluid changes, brake system flush, comprehensive inspection and test drives, etc. — with my wrench-friend Jason. Returned through the wonderful Hwy 204/Tollgate area. Stopped for a second in Imbler to view the flower baskets hanging from sculpted metal. As this was a solo drive, very little photo documentation was accomplished (except that of interest only to auto enthusiasts).
