Making a misguided foray into the weather, I join friend Kevin for a visit to a couple of his cars (of a total of five, I think, not counting motorcycles) in winter storage: his newly-acquired and almost perfect 35-year-old BMW and his 27-year-old summer driver 951 Porsche Turbo. Nearly froze ourselves.

Sea-Steading
Writing yesterday in a piece for Bloomberg View, Tyler Cowen discusses the practice of “seasteading”, a concept that he suggests might untether business from politics. But it reminds me of operations that we first started hearing about under other guises and discriptors in the 70s and 80s in terms of corporations that transcend national borders and even headquarter themselves in ocean locales outside territorial waters, beyond the bounds of national regulation with the potential of becoming independent political units on their own.
