rDay Fourteen-Hundred-Seventy: Conclusion

At the vet’s …

Around M-F: Except for the two street views, all photographs were taken while seated in the parked vehicle, dog-sitting while the dog’s Main Person was doing some of her shopping.

More windshield photography, but this time while in motion down Highway 11:

Finally, another dog-sitting episode while waiting in a local parking lot just before returning home.

rDay Fourteen-Hundred-Seventy

We arise early, departing in light rain and near-darkness for a trip to transport Charles the Invincible to an appointment with his vet in Milton-Freewater (pop. 7,000).  The first leg of our journey involves on-the-fly windshield photography, riding shotgun:

Stay tuned for our arrival in M-F.

Herman in Viet Nam 5

I can no longer keep up with these things.  Herman’s descriptions are intermingled in separate paragraphs of text and not indexed to the individual photographs, but I know that they mostly document his cruise up the Mekong River out of Saigon.  I can probably put you in touch directly with Herman if you desire more detail.

Herman in Viet Nam 3

Herman visits the War Museum in Ho Chi Minh City (aka Saigon).  Among his comments: “… One section shows how since the war,  Viet Nam and the US have become trading partners. We are treated well here, and people are friendly and very helpful. This city reminds us in many ways of Mexico City…”

Some more just came in.  I will post here until Herman finds a venue for publication (so we can just send links instead of having to repeatedly handle the image files).  Captions based on Herman’s notes.

Herman, Bound for Europe in 1964

For those of my readers/viewers who know Herman, you might find this image of interest.  Here he is on board the USS United States at NY Pier 47, about to embark on his first European adventure, headed to the University of Dijon (France).  Yes, I was supposed to join Herman and Geoff (at the camera), but things went awry for me (another story, not to be retold here).  This was the cruise where Herman met a fellow passenger, David Hockney, undoubtedly enlivening his already-keen interest in art.
