rDay Three-Hundred-Seventy-Nine: Elijah and Christy (Postscript)
Gabrielle supplies this historic photo, alluded to in the previous post, from Iowa when Nik (left) and Elijah (right) were ten months old.
rDay Three-Hundred-Seventy-Nine: Elijah and Christy
Today’s unexpected but most welcome guests are Gabrielle’s oldest, the Hollywood-handsome Elijah, and his charming betrothed, Christy, here enjoying the warming April weather with our own superstar Nik. Elijah and Christy are traveling the U.S. West, keeping an eye open for settlement ground after they marry and Elijah finishes his eight year or more stint with Uncle S. They were gone after a couple of hours, headed west, of course, but we miss ’em already.
SIDEBAR: The last time I remember seeing Elijah he was tossing food from his highchair perch, on the same Iowa day that Nik took his first unassisted walk across the room, ever. Aren’t kids great?
rDay Three-Hundred-Seventy-Seven
Just experimenting with a new old (nearly fifty years old, in fact) manual lens (handheld; I better get out my tripod). Had to be called into play as I keep dropping and breaking my stuff.
rDay Three-Hundred-Seventy-Seven: The Roof
Next four days’ forecast is sunny, so the construction crew is finally ready to start on the roofing project.
Seattle Day Two: North Creek and Tech Corridor
[rday362 / Seattle Day Two / Monday]
A pre-breakfast stroll around the motel reveals the surprising presence of a splendid creek and walkway, literally seconds and a few steps from our door. A brief look while we await the appearance of Ivi and start of the day’s major activities. Further exploration upon our late afternoon return, when we walk far up the creek and, still braving the incessant rain, visit the “technology corridor” area, just a half-block distant in the other direction.
rDay Three-Hundred-Seventy-Six
Today we drop in on old friends & ex-employer at their new place of business. Operational but not quite unpacked. Everything was done in the dead of night, with all ISP employees in place by April 1. The Internet survived.
Seattle Days One – Three: Lisle
rDay Three-Hundred-Seventy-Five
Taking Devil-Dog and his wolfish essence for a morning pre-breakfast hike around Morgan Lake …
Seattle Day Three: Downtown/Monorail/Seattle Center
[rDay363 / Seattle Day Three / Tuesday]
More wandering about in Seattle. We board the Monorail (wish it went everywhere) for great views on our way to Seattle Center, where we were dumped at the Artists at Play kids’ park, EMP (Experience Music Project) Museum and proximity to the Space Needle.
