In an event akin to spontaneous combustion, while gently cruising down Fourth Street at about 20mph, the sliding door side window of the Caravan abruptly shattered. No occupants were harmed. Temporary measures have been taken, awaiting replacement.

The PBS Newshour reminds us that not everything in 2016 was awful. Here is its list of 13 “undeniably good things” that happened in this past year. And I like to think that shared bad times tend to lead to greater consciousness and more incentive to take positive action to all of our benefit.

Quartz has made a distillation of 36 “best” lists of books for 2016 and published it here. (Turns out that we have read or are reading a handful of list members and have found then to be listworthy in our humble opinions. No clunkers to report at this time.)
