I remember well how Facebook launched nearly 15 years ago and was a big topic of discussion for us at the ISP (Internet Service Provider) where I worked. Some of us were quick adopters. Increasingly, over the years, many of us in the ISP and web-hosting/web-building business became skeptical. (My latest semi-diatribe or admonition is here.)
