Velouria and Marketplace

For quite a few years, consistent with the notion that it is a key to understanding our world, we have made an evening ritual of listening to the Marketplace.org podcast/radio program. Marketplace.org is a nonprofit public service of journalism, based in Los Angeles, covering the economy and financial world.

Tonight, with the coronavirus and its economic impacts uppermost in the minds of so many of us, Marketplace interviewed and quoted three small business owners in the Seattle area, arguably the epidemic’s U.S. epicenter. One of these owners was Cat — niece Chika’s partner in the five-woman Velouria boutique operation mentioned before on these pages.

Btw, Cat mentioned how key Velouria’s online web presence would surely be to sustaining their business — a web presence that daughter Ivi plays a key role in developing and maintaining.

Anyway, to hear this 20-or-so minute podcast, cruise over to marketplace.org and bring up the March 10 program, “How Do You Prevent a Coronavirus Recession?”

Velouria is a small shop where every single thing is made in the USA or Canada by folks dedicated to beauty, quality, and sustainability.   Velouria also supports social causes and local nonprofits.
