Tax Day: Harvey Shaw Road

We decide to celebrate Tax Day with some sightseeing and travel to Charbonneau Park, about an hour north of our home. Our plan was to continue from there on to the west to the McNary National Wildlife Refuge. The first leg of the trip immediately out of Walla Walla took us through the rolling farming territory where we traversed Harvey Shaw Road for about twenty or thirty miles on our way to intersect with main highways leading into our destinations. We were underway by seven a.m. and experienced the almost magical effect of the early morning sun on the minimalist landscape, allowing a splendid opportunity for the quaint exercise of in-motion, on-the-fly “windshield photography”.  To give you a sense of the visuals of our drive, one of my favorite captures during our stint over Harvey Shaw Road is this:

P.S. If you are a long-time Windows user, you might see something above that reminds you of this Northern California landscape.

The Walmart Bug

With my VW-collector friend jamesa in mind, I took a two-minute break (10:11 – 10:13am) this morning while on a flying trip to Walmart (aka Malwart) to quickly document this mildly modded inverted tear-drop Beetle.

Oh, rats.  Meant this for my car blog.  Too late now.  Oh, well … guess it will just have to aggravate my already delicate situation with my hosting provider around alleged over-utilization of server resources for WhileBusy (perhaps destined to disappear in the near future)…

Now Hear This

Brother Dennis sends along a couple of sound files.  He says:

“I recorded these from my studio office. The concrete breaking went on for the better part of three days from the new McMansion project getting underway just two doors down the street (the seventh on the block in the past four years).  The airplane is from Santa Monica Airport, and is typical of multiple daily occurrences.  If at some point in the near future you learn that I have gone insane and have had to be institutionalized, these are major reasons.”
