Dennis Hoyt in Bahrain – Update

Earlier tonight Dennis sent me some iPhone photos taken in an air-conditioned “glass tent” during the setup of his exhibit at the Bahrain Grand Prix.  As followers of my Porsche blog may know, he is in that part of the globe by invitation to show his sculpture during the F1 racing event to be held starting on Friday, April 17.   He tells us that he has met with Sheikh Salman, champion Middle East Porsche GT3 racer and Porsche fan/fanatic,  is coordinating with Bernie Ecclestone’s (chief executive of international Formula One racing) F1 communication staff, and is scheduled to meet with the Crown Prince.  He also says that his exhibit has been written up in something called the Gulf Weekly, an important news magazine for that region.  Stay tuned!

By the way, Dennis is the friend who has helped me now and then do bodywork on my own car, in case you didn’t know.  And I built a website (temporarily unavailable) for Dennis’ Speed For The Need charitable work and have photographed some of his pieces.

rDay Twenty-One – Addendum

As we prepared for the afternoon Unleashing of the Hound of the Baskervilles, we took notice of how overgrown the front yard grass has become, after only one week of the lawn mower’s downtime in the shop for repair.  But we proceeded on to romp about in the abundant grass also afforded by the nearby undeveloped college campus fields.

rDay Twenty-One

In a quick, cold and windy walk  downtown for a late morning visit to the chiro, I watch the skies as usual.  And glance down at the sidewalk beside me to see a small bird hesitate for a second, inches away from my foot, before flitting off, then come upon the local metro transit bus.  My doc, now working only part-time, tells me about self-building his new retirement house in the high desert, with windows and decks optimally oriented so that he can watch the sunset, glass of wine in hand, on one side while greeting the sunrise on the other, viewing from window or deck as weather-appropriate.
