Last week, Ivi accompanied her friends Marina and Olivia on a two-day camping trip somewhere around Catherine Creek. No bears were encountered. But they did find a flurry of huckleberry growth. So on Sunday the girls got together and transformed their pickings into an absolutely succulent pie.
Just as I was about to take off for work this morning, Kim walks through the back door with the latest fresh harvest from the garden. This kind of thing has been going on for weeks now. Not to mention the relentless cooking sprees involving Kim and/or Ivi.

So we decide that we will celebrate the Fourth with a family hike on the California Gulch Trail of theOregon Trail Blue Mountain Crossing Park, west of home some ten or twenty miles. Nik packs the Kindle, the rest of us pack water, food and sunscreen. More to follow.
